| After a successful season in the nationwide series finishing 5th in points and scoring 5 top 5's and 11 top 10's in 14 races, Jake has decided to move his operation into the cup series. There were many questions about where the former champion would drive next season after missing the last race of the season and not renewing his contract with Solstice Racing(Now Full Throttle Solstice). "I got a couple of offers to drive for other teams this season after I announced I will not be back at Solstice next season, but I already had plans for my own team since the middle of last season," said Jake at a press conference this past weekend. A full overhaul of the Maine Motorsports team is planned, The team which had been based in Rumford, Maine for 3 years will move down to North Carolina. "It's nice being close to home while running your team, but its too much extra effort and strain on the wallet to base a team where you have to travel 1000 miles to most tracks especially in the Cup series." Another big change for Jake is that he will be running Toyota's, surprising after he has run most of his career in Chevy's. The team will get Chassis, Engines, and Technical support from Flat Out Motorsports. Sponsorship is a big question mark so far, Jake says they have something for the first 3 Races, they hope to get something together for the rest of the season soon. You'd think a former champion would find sponsorship fairly easily, but it's been a struggle for them. The #21 Team with Jake Poulin plans to run full time, sponsored or not. The team may also enter a 2nd car for Daytona as well

| Team Disappointed After Daytona
Hopes were high for the team at Daytona. But the night ended with 2 wrecked cars and 2 finishes outside the top 15. Jake Poulin was taken out in a wreck with David Krikorian, Keith Sherman, and Chris Wetz. Dan Mackay was taken out in a multi-car wreck later in the race. This is a major setback for the team who was struggling for resources to begin with. The team will continue on to Rockingham next week with the #21 running the full race and the #02 Start and Parking. Jake Made this comment about fielding a start and park entry, "I never liked the whole start and park deal, but we just can't afford to run 2 cars for the full race every week without sponsorship." The team does plan to race the #02 at Talladega and possible another race. They are still trying to find sponsorship for the #21 for after Gateway but the team still plans on running all the races. | |

| Team looking to rebound with new sponsor. After a slow start to the season for the 21 team, they hope to have a strong run to the chase. As of now, Jake sits 11th in points, 9 back of 8th place. The team has been stricken by bad luck the first 3 races. A crash at Daytona ended in a finish outside the top 15, A last lap crash while running in the top 5 at Rockingham resulted in an 8th place finish. A scheduling conflict caused Jake Poulin to miss last weekends race while he was racing at Road America, driver Dan Mackay filled in to start the car to get some points. A best finish of 8th is not what the team expected but they are confident they can come back strong. The 21 team has signed a new sponsor for 7 races, that will take them all the way to the chase. The sponsor is A Kraft Foods product, see logo below. | |
