| Seeing as how there's been more and more of it discussed in the RDT, maybe this topic should get it's own thread. I know political discussions on forums have caused problems at other places in the past, and are sometimes even banned from being discussed, but I think we can be mature about it here. Hope I don't eat those words lol. Either way, this would be a good place to keep political discussion so that it doesn't get cluttered with "random" discussion. Maybe also have it stickied? |

| I guess the main reason I feel the need to start paying attention is because the next election year is coming up, and this would be my first year being able to vote. I know I shouldn't have had this point of view, but I've always just said "fuck politics" and ignored it. As a result I honestly know jack shit. I know very little about the American government and I feel I need to change that. |

| Lemme go over what I know so far about the Occupy Wall Street:
-Atlanta Police were expected to invade Occupy Atlanta, but it appears that the mayor gave a stand down order.
-Police did go into the second camp at Occupy Boston. They arrested over a hundred people and destroyed all tents and items within the camp.
-Police are at Occupy Seattle. They have apparently said they may not arrest the people tonight, but said they can if they want to.
-Reports are just coming in that police are at Occupy Dallas, and potentially Occupy Austin. |

| City parks...Generally thats where they are being staged. Its a general act of civil disobedience peacefully to get their point across that they work for us. Not the other way around. On a national stage its about the banks controlling everything, the big companies controlling everything, and it should also be about the Fed.
-Police are clearing the press to begin arresting people in DC. |

| Did you all watch them debate last night? I have a few questions about the debate, see, I'm not really well-versused on American politics being native of Slovakia move to America in my 10s.
1. Why were there not any Democrafts? It seemed like a not so fair and balanced debate to only invite one party. I would like to see who they have to offer. We here a lot about Republimans like Herman McCain, Rick Barry is it?, Michelle Backman, and Bill Clinton in this election, but not much about the Democratfs.
2. I'm confused about Mick Robney. Is he a Republiman or a Morman? What is the party platform for the Mormans and how does it differ to the Republimans and Democarfts?
3. Is Ron Paul a real person?
4. I would like to ask about the 9/9/9 plan. If there is a 9/9/9 plan will they still have the money to build a momument of Gouverneur Morris in my home town which is no where close to Gouverneur Morris' home town?
5. I think the big issues of the debate should have been less focust on money and more focust on issues people care about like the econoby. |

| I've liked everything I've seen out of Ron Paul so far, although some people have been pretty hard on him regarding his foreign/military policy. I have not been following it as much as guys like Wetz. I'm not a big fan of Cain's 9-9-9 plan, your basically giving the rich people a HUGE tax cut, and I'm not sure 9% sales tax would make up for that, but I'm not an economist, the sales tax here is 6%, so I'm not sure how exactly it would help the budget by raising sales tax 3% in Utah, while income tax is dramatically lower. I guess the benefit of that would be the fact that more people are paying less income tax which MIGHT be able to get people slightly back on their feet, but once again, how does it necessarily help the debt? |

| Honestly..I think most of the tax cuts for the rich are just paying off the people who fund their campaigns. |

| I watched last night's debate. I would rank the candidates' performances as follows:
1. Chris Christie - I think his 10-10-220 plan is really interesting and he sold it well.
2. Herman "Pizza" Chain - I wanted to rank him lower, but I also wanted to prove I'm not a racist.
3. Michele Bachmann - She was dressed tastefully.
4. Rick Santorum - I felt bad for him. No one knew he was there, so no one referenced him, so he never got speak, so when he did speak, he always went over his time.
5. Rick Perry - His most charismatic performance to date.
6. Mitt Romney, CEO of Massachusetts - I don't think a New Englander should be president because they just don't understand NASCAR and I think he could make Dodge pull out or something.
7. Ronald "Paul" Reagan - I just don't think these Constitutional scholars should be allowing a man to hold office for a third time, in my opinion.
8. Newt Gingrich - One of America's largest problems is obesity. I don't trust an obese man to solve it. |

| I also found it offensive they had a debate in Las Vegas so soon after what happened. I found that tasteless. It only re-opened the wounds. Poor planning. I think the next debate should be held in Cleveland. It's a nice place. |
