Sprint Cup/ Trucks @ Talladega: V8 Supercar Gold Coast

Though tragedy has struck the motorsports world this past weekend, it is only right for racing to continue on, and the races this weekend to be run in honor of Dan Wheldon. And though we may complain about the quality of racing at times, this weekend should be enjoyed by the prospect of clean and safe racing.

Couple notes on the races so far:

- V8 Supercar boss has renamed the Goldcoast trophy to the Dan Wheldon Trophy

- Brad Keselowski will have "In Honor of Dan" on the back end of his car where the quote usually is.

- Max Papis will run a tribute to Dan in the truck race.

- Will Power and Tony Kanaan have pulled out of the V8 race, while Helio Castroneves, Ryan Briscoe and Alex Tagliani will still be racing. The replacements for Power, Kanaan and Wheldon will be Richard Lyons, Allan Simonsen and Darren Turner.

- Also DW and Mike Joy will be flying back down under instead of doing the broadcast F1 style in a room in NC.

- T.J. Bell will be driving this at Dega.

also, the Whelen All-American 300 is at South Boston speedway Saturday. Best late model drivers in VA and NC gonna fight it out for national attention. After two weeks ago at the Martinsville race, drivers are already calling out people and plan on getting payback. OH BUDDAY

Yes, but that doesn't mean it said anything if it was going to be tape delayed or not like some of the F1 broadcasts on FOX.

I don't follow V8 Supercars so I didn't hear about it, and SPEED Channel is worthless to me anymore outside of NASCAR Cup Practice and Truck Series, and the occasional F1 race.

If TJ Bell and TRG can back up what the did at Talladega and definitely back up what they did at Daytona (400), then he'll make the field. I know Lally is locked in now, so you won't see a 7th place effort out of him necessarily, but TJ should be able to make the field if they give him on of those two cars, for sure.

I got to meet Tony Stewart,Jamie Mac,And Austin Dillion at Bass pro shops. They were awesome and I over hear Auston telling jamie the his truck was pushing bad on the high line.

Well looks like they are going to attempt the 2 truck draft in the latter parts of the truck race tomorrow, hoping all goes well, but I don't foresee it working well with everyone trying it.

By finished 7th in the heat race..Austin Self has made it into the South Boston 300.
