I am just sick over what just happened at that CT school. Who would kill kids, why, just why! Thoughts and Prayers go out to everyone involved in the shooting.

..This always brings up the immediate gun debate...I'm sick of hearing about it...(Except for assault weapons). What we need in this country is a proper mental healthcare system. I can't even count the number of times I've heard this could have been avoided with a good mental healthcare system..Hell..Just step up a be a friend to someone. Just doing that can go a long way to stopping something like this down the line.

Not trying to staqrt anything, just let me say. I don't like guns. I don't think anyone should have that kind of power. But I also wholeheartedly agree with what WEtz said. Mental healthcare is simply not available or affordable for most Americans, which is incredible when you consider how many people will deal with mental health issues over the course of their lives. The same goes for healthcare in general. It upsets me that people get al lupset over the right to bear arms, but no one seems to think that it should be a right to have access to affordable and accesible healthcare, preventative or otherwise.

Maybe we shouldn't discuss the "causes" behind what happened and put our thoughts towards those affected. We don't know what caused the shooting, what that person or persons had going through their minds, anything. And until we know, then it's just speculation that does nothing for anyone.

Your right Chin, but I think its an immediate kneejerk reaction to think, what can stop this from happening again?

If there was a way to fix it we would've gotten it by the second time this has happened in society.

In my honest opinion, I don't think there is a way. Even if by some ungodly chance they took guns away, people would still get them. There's nothing that stops someone from having a gun if they're bound and determined to have it. Sure, mental healthcare could ease some of these things, but what are we going to do? Force EVERYONE to take mental health therapy sessions?

Like I said, I agree with Chin. There really is nothing we can do to prevent these kinds of shootings.
