Most of you may not know a single thing about track cycling but I think the sport is pretty cool so I've tried to replicate its newest addition to the Olympic schedule for online racing in NR2003. The discipline is called
omnium and it's a 6-event discipline where both pure speed, strategy and consistency counts
Here it's the format of competition
NASCAR omnium
1 - FLYING LAPStandard qualification procedure
Daytona or Talladega
2 - POINTS RACE10 5-lap dashes, top10 get points (12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1)
Those 10 get to the back of the grid but reversed in the cooling down lap. 2 laps (cooling+formation) between each dash
1.5 mile speedway
3 - ELIMINATION5 race laps to warm-up, then the last driver retires after every lap. No restarts
Daytona or Talladega
4 - INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT5 consecutive flying laps in practice to add time. Always 2 cars in the track
Bristol
5 - SCRATCH RACE1 standard race with a mandatory pitstop. No yellow flags
Roadcourse
6 - TIME TRIAL3 consecutive flying laps in practice. Lone car
Indianapolis
POINTS ARE SCORED IN REVERSE
The driver with the lowest number of points scored winsIf there's a tie in points, all times of the time trials will be added
In the time trial sessions order will be reversed so the leader in points knows which times are the ones to beat
What do you think about the event??
Do you see it doable??
Would you change the tracks for one or more events??
PS : if this is doable I may think about adding the extremely fun and chaotic madison discipline or a team time trial (4-car drafting in Daytona to get the best time!!!)
