Big wreck this morning in practice for Petit Le Mans:
Quote :
The session was halted for approximately 30 minutes following a heavy crash between Olivier Pla’s Oak Racing Oak Pescarolo prototype and JDX Racing’s Will Langhorne. Track and IMSA officials had to repair barriers and fencing as a result of the incident.

Yup.
Audi and Peugeot are fastest. Oreca is 5th in the old Peugeot car. Fastest of the rest is the Dyson Lola Mazda in 6th 2.5 seconds off the Audi's.
in LMP2 its Level 5's new HPD ARX-01g chassis thats fastest. GT is completley up in the air. Corvette, BMW, and the Ferrari's have all been very fast.

BTCC makes their annual trip to Brands Hatch long circuit this weekened as well. Chris Swanwick is making his debut in one of the Rob Austin Audi's. There are 29 cars entered which is the biggest field in many years.
With Swanwick on this track..These signs will be needed.
And heres the move that got Swanwick banned from the Ginetta Juniors.

I went to the Petit Le Mans one year here. Much harder to follow the racing on a road course than it is on an oval lol
Don't remember if there was a jumbo tron where we were at or not... We were on a hill in front of the flag stand behind pit road if I remember correctly.

Scott Atherton gave the ALMS State of The Series event. He said 2012 would be a "Year of Change" though I do not see a whole lot of change.
The schedule is going from 10 to 11 races. They are keeping the partnership with the ACO. ALMS will be keeping the same class structure: LMP1, LMP2, LMPC, GT, GTC.
The ALMS will continue to allow both the 2011-2014 spec new Prototype cars as well as the Grandfathered 2010 cars.
The big change I'd say comes in tv. All races will be again on ESPN3.Com. 4 races will be live on tv. Here is the schedule and tv schedule.
2012 Schedule with the channels it will be on live:
March 17th - 12 Hours of Sebring - ESPN 3 April 14th - Long Beach - ESPN2/ESPN3 May 12th - Laguna Seca - ESPN3 May/June - TBD - ESPN3 July 7th - Lime Rock Park - ESPN2/ESPN3 July 21st - Mosport - ESPN2/ESPN3 Aug 4th - Mid Ohio - ABC/ESPN3 Aug 18th - Road America - ESPN3 Sep 1st - Baltimore Street Circuit - ESPN3 Sep/Oct - TBD - ESPN3 Oct 20th - Petit Le Mans - ESPN3
I expect fields to be bigger in ALMS next season. All the LMPs should be returning. With hopefully a few new teams.

Another bit of news. It looks like TRG will move from GTC to GT with a new Dodge Viper.

So far 30 minutes into Petit Le Mans the #06 Core Autosport LMPC went off causing the first SC, #68 TRG GTC wrecked under caution trying to not hit an LMPC car.
The #007 Aston Martin leads after pit stops.

Car bottomed out really bad, tore part of the splitter off. They've had to open the hood and raise it the first 2 stops, seems good now.

Yeah, he seems good now, looks like if he catches a quick caution he'll be the LD unless he was that caution

Jennifer Jo Cobb withdrew her Nationwide entry because she though she could make the truck race. Like 6 late entries, and she missed the truck race. She mad bro. Also, she wasn't half abd in practice, just slow as shit in Q.
However, she is prepping her good truck with a god engine for Dega. Turns out that Circle Bar truck she ran at Dega last year was also her 6th place truck at Daytona.

Okay, i don't know what's going on. Nascar Trucks Twitter said Ty Dillon bumped Jennifer from teh field, but she said "Unbelievably we have beaten one truck... a good truck at that. So many ups and downs. There is a chance to race tonight." So...conflicting reports?
