Emerson Claims Round 1 on the Gold Coast

The inaugural race for the MIP Indy Car series did not disappoint at Surfers Paradise. The race was filled with close racing, crashing, and a spectacular finish between Jake Poulin and Matt Emerson. Both Emerson and Taylor showed fast speed in qualifying as both drivers made it to Q3. Emerson and Taylor would both lead laps but in the closing laps on the final green flag pit stop, Emerson would gamble and only take two tires and Jake Poulin would take 4. Jake eventually caught Emerson but made his move on an awkward section of the track and was able to pass Emerson. Matt goes into Indy with the points and a lot of confidence.

Emerson goes two for two at Indy

Matt Emerson claims his second win in two starts at Indy in controversial fashion as he bumped the leader out of the way on the last lap. But he was given the win. Matt Emerson is better than Shawn Taylor. Emerson will take his streak to St. Pete for round 3.

Marlboro McLaren Closes Program Friday Night

The rumor around the garage of MM Racing shutting it's doors became official Friday night in a statement released by the owners of Marlboro-McLaren. It all started Tuesday after the Indianapolis 500 as rumors ran wild around the garage that Matt Emerson, the number two driver of the team, had been fired. This came across very strange to the drivers and teams of the MIP Indycar series because Matt has won the first two races of the season. The rumor seemed to be coming more and more of truth as Marlboro and drivers Shawn Taylor and Matt Emerson cancelled all appearances for the team around the St. Pete area for Monday's Chevy Grand Prix of St. Pete. Then Friday it was announced the closing of the team. Many reports are that Marlboro left the team as it's main sponsor and there would be no main sponsor for funding. But we have heard news that both drivers have signed on to a newly formed team. More info will be given throughout the night.
