At the end of Season 11 of Pro-Line, LMT will be closing it's doors. Lambert Motorsport Technologies was renamed from Lambert-Lawrence Racing after Brett Lawrence retired from Solstice Racing. "It's been a great couple of years with this team," Lambert said earlier today, "but the time has come to close up shop. With the series getting more competitive every season, I felt like we were falling behind on being competitive week in and week out." Lambert said later in his press conference that they've done really good through out the years, just not great. All LMT staff will all have jobs though after the season, most of them going with Lambert to a new team. The TRD engine builders will be moving over to the resurrected team of FOM and Matt Emerson, driver of the #12 LMT Toyota.
With the closing of the LMT, Lambert knew he was going to have to go to a strong team in Solstice. He has found just that with his long time friend Chad Mikosz and BIG EVIL Racing. Lambert has drove for BER in the past and has found great success. He drove to not one, but two championships for BER, the 2012 Nationwide Series, as well as Season 5 of Pro-Line Cup Series. Lambert has signed a 2 season contract to drive the #5 BER Chevrolet in Pro-Line, and the #25 Chevrolet in Dash. As for sponsorship, Mikosz and Lambert knew they go find their big sponsorship together. ASUS has agreed to a one season contract for the #25 Chevy in Dash, coming down from the #5 Toyota of Lambert in Season 11 of Pro-Line. For Pro-Line, Lambert had a pretty short journey as it didn't take long for him to find primary sponsorship. After a one hour discussion with Mars Candy, M&M's has agreed to a two season contract for the new #5 team. For secondary sharing sponsors, Pepsi and Budweiser has agreed to a one season contract as well. Lambert will share the Pepsi sponsor along with fellow racer Kyle Riley, just making sure they both do not run at the same race.
Lambert has high hopes for his new found team at BER. "We look to have great success at BER starting next seasons. We've had it in the past, and anything less than a hand full wins and at least one championship would be a disappointment. With our past experience and the knowledge of our two teams coming together, expect nothing less than greatness." Those were the closing statements from Lambert in his press conference. As you can tell, Lambert has got his head held high for what's to come. Knowing he couldn't do it alone, he's got a new found glory restarting his career with BIG EVIL Racing.
