Daytona Preseason Thunder Testing

This is sketchy as fuck. Burton's already hit the wall and Harvick almost wiped out Gordon.

The fastest speed in the draft pack is faster than the two car tandem. Harvick at 204MPH right now. That's extremely promising.

Holy crap a pack. This is awesome lol. The hell did they change since yesterday lol. Just hope NASCAR didn't tell them to not tango.. Or else this is choreographed as shit.

They aren't doing this just for show. They simply said, go get in a pack. They opened the plates up a little and made the grill openings smaller. The fastest speed in that pack was 205MPH. And it was sketchy as all hell, but a sight for sore eyes for sure.

Now what they should do, is do the same thing and let one or two pairs of cars hook up and see how far they go. If they gain no time then keep the package like this and let em race.

Besides they were tandem drafting all throughout the morning session, likely to compare speeds to a draft pack. In order to do that, you need a draft pack.

It's a test for a reason. If they ever did that during race weekend it would be absurd.

I didn't know they were doing a separate test. Pretty smart move by NASCAR actually. I just hope they don't tell them how to drive when Speedweeks comes around. Which I don't think they will. But this seems like a big step to bringing back pack racing. What JR said was realistic but kind of encouraging. We may get best of both worlds honestly. The pack may be able to keep up but if you want to win the race you'll need to do the tandem racing.

I imagine we'll be back to the way it was in 2010. They may run in a pack while one or two pairs go out front throughout the race until it gets to the end. Honestly, I think that would be absolutely perfect. Set the cars up and let the drivers do what they do.

The Bud Shootout will be our first true indicator of how it's going to be for sure. Until then, NASCAR will keep plugging away trying to find the best package.

Also when Dale Jr. dives onto pit lane, notice the flames are still coming out of the tail pipe with EFI. Don't know why people thought that would be different lol.

I'm skipping last period to watch this. What theyre talking about possibly doing is making it do they have to lift on entry OR make the cars unstable so they have to drive them. That pack racing, from the highlights I've seen it was amazingggg. It was so sketchy but it made it exciting. Thankyou NASCAR for listening to everyone

Pack racing is back? So we can finally see people going 4-5 wide at Dega coming to the checkers?

Don't expect it. It was just a test t see how fast pack racing was compared to the tandems. And they are relatively equal. But I guarantee you the winner and 2nd place in the race will be the ones doing the tandems.

And BTW, we did have 4-5 wide last year at Dega lol.. JS

Seems like the two car stuff is still faster, just not as fast as they were before.

the only way we will get what we use to have is to have a "gentleman's agreement" type thing for the first 3/4 of the race or so, but i doubt that will happen

Dale Jr hit the nail on the head in one of his interviews today, he was talking about how they were relatively equal now, but the 2 car tandem was still the way to go and that's what will win the race.

Watching the pack racing was awesome though, it was awesome to see them doing it again!

Welp, NASCAR has gone and slowed the cars down again. They're back to pushing 200 in the tandem drafting and 192 in a single car run.

I guess they're going to try and get another draft pack in the afternoon session.

Just had another accident. Montoya tried to duck in line behind Dale Jr. and hooked him into Burton and they both spun to the inside. Burton is probably done now.
