| NBMotorsports is a single car team owned and driven by Nick Baker. NBM fields the #9 Rockwell Tools and Farmers' Insurance Dodge Charger. A long time Solstice Racing League driver, Nick Baker has achieved moderate success, including the Daytona 500 twice. Baker, a 4-time Proline Cup Series winner, hopes to improve on his numbers, while attempting to run for the championship.
Baker's Dodge chassis have been with him for quite a long time, with the SS chassis he will be running throughout Speedweeks has helped him win his Daytona 500s. Baker hopes to leave Daytona with a strong top 5 run. _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin. | Baker rallies late at Daytona: After starting 14th in the race, Nick Baker used a little pit strategy during the early cautions to led a handful of laps. Once he was passed for the lead, Baker's strategy left him off sequence for pit stops and had to pit a few laps earlier than anyone else. Baker caught a lucky caution to help get him back on the lead lap, though. After that, for most of the race he ran in the back, trying hard to get people to work with to get a high line going to move to the front.
Towards the end of the race, Baker would slowly gain positions before last lap incidents and wreck avoidance resulted in a 9th place finish for the #9 team.
"We had a good car, just could find anyone to really work with. The package we had for racing was a bit crazy and some guys couldn't handle it. It was a good race, nonetheless. It's good to start the season off right with a top 10." _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin. | Strong start at The Rock turns to disappointment: After being strong in practice, Baker showed speed in qualifying by grabbing the outside pole. Baker ran in the top 5 for the first portion of the race, but got collected in a wreck that essentially ended any hope for a decent finish for the driver/owner. Baker ended up finishing outside the top 10.
Baker sits 7th in points after race #2 not gaining or losing any spots from Daytona.
The Proline Cup Series heads to Las Vegas, a track that has, for the most part, been nice to Baker. _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin. Career Wins: 40 (Last - Daytona, Studio Speed Retro Superspeedway Series) Career Poles: 38 (Last - Atlanta, Studio Speed Cup Series)

| Vegas race "same old story" as Rockingham: Baker started off the race with another good qualifying effort, but never really contended for the lead. He was running around the 5th spot when he broke early for the corner (his normal line) when Chad Mikosz drove it in and spun him into the wall. The run continued on, but right before Baker was about to get lapped, the caution flew. A little while later, on a restart, Baker had worked his way back up towards the top 5 when he got loose under Jack Stroski and spun out. Baker said it happened due to a combination of driver error and damage sustained in the contact with Mikosz (and the wall). A few laps later, he spun out again, this time trying to make up some of the time lossed, which put him at risk of going a lap down once again, however, a caution would not fly and the race ended up going green. Baker fought back with some pit strategy to finish 8th and move up to 6th in points.
"Just another tough day, get wrecked on lap 20 and damage hurts way too much at these tracks. It's unfortunate, but you move on, look at the positives and hope to get things going back your way. _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin. Raced you hard for no reason at all lol plus my 30 lap old tires compared to your 10-15 laps old tires weren't helpful either lol _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin. | Baker evaluates performance so far this season: Nick Baker was hanging around the shop when he got a question about how he feels his team is doing performance wise. He replied to the question as quoted:
"We've been very hit or miss. The first 3 races of the season, we had a lot of speed, and used it to get good qualifying spots, but we had some bad luck here and there and had to rally late in races to grab a somewhat decent result. Bristol was a little bit of an issue for me, I wasn't wanting to do anything to harm myself or another driver with a mistake I made, which, overall, I did good with that. Gotzenberg, was one I look back at and shake my head at. I really used a strategy to get to the finish, with a top 5, but screwed that up worrying about what the guy behind me was doing. I was driving a good race, was somewhat fast and stayed clear of most of the wrecks. Indianapolis I just didn't have any speed. I spun out early in the race and my handling went to complete crap and it was too tight to drive, I think I got out of there with a 7th, but that's about where I've finished every race. Hopefully we can get some good things going and make a strong run going into the chase and through the chase." _________________ Solstice Racing main Admin.
