After making the chase in season 2 of the Proline Cup Series, NBMotorsports returns and drops to 2 teams. Nick Baker will continue to drive the #9 NBM entry while Jordan Hyland returns to the team in the #91 NBM entry. NBM will make the switch back to Dodge for the 2011 season after being with Ford for some time.

"I look forward to another great season as NBM has won a race in each of the 2 seasons so far in the Proline Cup Series. After finishing 4th in the standings for season 2, and running in the top 5 a majority of the season, NBM hopes to capture it's first championship. We will have Dodge Motorsports power under our hood again and we'll be running Dodge Chargers for the season. We signed Jordan Hyland to drive the #91 Dodge Charger for NBM and have high hopes and expectations for him as well."

Allegedly I had 4 teams last season with Chad (4, then switched midseason to the 25 for his team), Dylan (49 never ran), Jon Taylor (94 Never really raced), and me (9 derrrrrrr)

Nick Baker talks about team status, hopes for 2011 season:
With a week left to go for preparation for the Daytona 500 in the Solstice Proline Cup Series, Nick Baker was asked about how things are with the team and what he hopes to accomplish in the upcoming season.

"We have a great team here and great sponsors to make sure of it! I'm really excited to return to Dodge and have Dodge Dealers and Mopar return as sponsors! The #9 team currently has a streak of back to back seasons with a win at 2 in the Proline Series. So far the 2 wins don't quite show how well we have been running in this series. Last season we were in the top 3 in points most of the season and just got back into the top 5 in points in the final few races after a bad start to the chase. Right now, I'm just going to take it race by race and then see where we stand by the chase. I hope to get at least one win, but I am a racer and I want to win more than that, too. Top 5's and top 10's are the goal every race, survive each race, be there at the end. The road course races are ones I worry about the most, we did pretty decent on them last year by finishing in the top 10 both races. We hope to have a 2nd team run some races here and there with the #91 team. Sponsorship is set for both cars, too. So that's good."

Defending Daytona 500 champ, Nick Baker to run Austism scheme at Daytona:
Great Clips and NBMotorsports announced Friday evening that the two will once again partner up for the Daytona 500. Last season, Baker got his first Daytona 500 win in a last lap upset where he missed the big one on the final lap with Great Clips and Susan G Komen on the car. "Last season running the Susan G Komen scheme was a mishap, our decal specialist forgot to rewrap the car that was used in a few races before hand. It ended up working out with Susan G Komen and Great Clips winning the race! This year, we're gonna do something similar, but we will run an Autism Speaks! scheme with Great Clips. April, being the Autism Awareness Month is when the 500 is being ran, so it made sense!"

Jonathan Taylor, 51 team to run out of NBM shop:
Jonathan Taylor and NBMotorsports announced on Saturday that the #51 team will run Dodge Chargers out of the NBM shop for the season. In addition, the #91 team will become the #51 and Discount Tires will sponsor the 51 in select races. Speed Energy will continue their sponsorship on the 51, also.

"We came up with this deal last night and it'll work out for both sides. Jon gets decent cars from NBM and I get a teammate to help me out with information and such."

Baker uses shootout as test session for the Daytona 500:
Even though he ended up parking in the Coors Shootout, Nick Baker learned a lot from the race when he was there. Baker fell back and worked his way up a few times, learned what lines he needs to take and where to go, and he learned that he needs to enter the pits faster. He takes this valueable information to Daytona to defend his win from last season.

Nick Baker battles damage early in race to finish in the top 10:
After an early incident where everyone checked up, Nick Baker was slammed in the back by Nick Kahrs who didn't check up, but didn't spin, Baker went on to finish in the top 10 after missing a restart with a few laps to go while running 2nd. "I almost jumped the restart, so I had to slow down before being able to go and not get penalized, fortunately I was able to get out of the way to let everyone by with no problems. I was too damaged to try to get back up to the front, I needed someone to push me, but never really got anyone's help. I helped out Sherm at the end with his damaged car, not sure where he finished, but I'm sure he appreciated the help there! Top 10 finish, in the top 10 in points. Good start to the season!"

Jordan Hyland to run #91 in select events:
After reports of NBM's #91 team being replaced by the #51 team, and the #91 not being fielded in the Daytona 500, Nick Baker reassured everyone that the #91 will indeed run with Jordan Hyland behind the wheel. Alliance Truck Parts and Stanley Tools will sponsor the #91 team for the races it will run. "We have everything set for the 91 team to debut this season possibly at Phoenix, but most likely at Las Vegas. Jordan Hyland asked me about the 91 team's status and we will run it alongside the 9 and 51 teams. The current plan is Jordan will drive at Las Vegas, but we are prepared for Phoenix with the 91 car if he chooses to race."

Baker unsure of Phoenix, setup:
Phoenix historically is a track that Baker has struggled at big time, and he's not sure what it will have in store this time around. "Well, our setup in testing was way off what everyone else had and I was at least 3 tenths off. Phoenix hasn't been a good track for me, but I don't have a lot of starts there either. Hopefully I can survive and get a decent top 10 finish, not expecting to be much of a contender for the win or the top 5, but you honestly never know. We are fighting a tight setup and a hard charging driver, so that's not a good mix. My crew chief is having a tough time setting our car up through the center and I'm not quite experienced enough to give him the best information I can. This will be a race that will test NBM's patience for sure, we'll see how it goes."

Nick Baker will drive the #9 Stanley Tools/DeWalt Dodge Charger at Phoenix.

Nick Baker earns 8th at Phoenix:
After struggling to even keep up with the closest competitor all race, Baker ends the race out of gas, but gets 8th. On the last lap, Chris Wetz got tight out of turn 2 and slammed the wall then was loose all of the way down the back stretch, causing Baker to hit him, but Wetz didn't immediately spin out. When the two enter turn 3, Wetz finally spun out allowing Baker to pass him on the inside. "I wasn't expecting much for the race, so to get 8th wasn't too bad. Never got a grip on a good setup, we struggled all night, but was fast enough to get at best a 10th place finish, which is where we ran most of the race. All of the changes we tried failed to help improve the car at all, we were either too tight or loose enough to go no where. Never was able to pass anyone on my own and was just fast enough to at least keep up with the back to the pack. I thought more people would be there and getting a top 10 would've been difficult, but the 8th place finish came to me tonight. Wasn't the best race, but you just gotta move on after races like this."

NBMotorsports Las Vegas preview:
Everyone has seen that Nick Baker has been pretty competitve at all of the 1.5 mile tracks in Proline recently, with quite a few top 5's and the one win back in season 1 of the Proline Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The NBM crew say they have a pretty decent car for Las Vegas, which is the same one they used for every 1.5 mile race since season 1. "The last time we ran this car, we got top 3 finishes in the last 2 races in a row. NBM-9A has always been a decent car and we've had our best runs in it every race it ran, so we have some hope for another strong run with it at Vegas. Jordan Hyland has a cloned car for the race with NBM-91A running this week. He feels good about his car after a couple of test sessions with it. Jordan and I both feel pretty good about our Vegas cars, hopefully that can translate to good finishes by both of us this week."

Dodge Dealers returns as the sponsor of the #9 team for the first time since the CRI Pro Cup Series season 2. Alliance Truck Parts will sponsor the effort of the #91 team with Hyland driving. The 3rd NBM team (#51) currently is has an entry, but no driver is listed and Discount Tires will sponsor that effort if a driver is found.

Baker picks up 3rd at Las Vegas:
Las Vegas has been a hit or miss track for Nick Baker throughout his career. He either runs well and finishes decent, or he has bad luck and doesn't get the finish he deserves. Tonight Baker had terrible luck all race, but held on and fought to the end to earn a 3rd place finish. "It was a touch night for the NBM guys, Jonathan really struggled, but he also hasn't been around for a while. We had a really tight car on the long runs, but we had a decent car on the short run, but mostly on the first two laps of a ran. Overall we were about a 6th to 8th place car, but people kept getting involved in wrecks, including myself, and everyone kept retiring. We had our trouble tonight, but we bounce back up to the top 5 and finished there."

This was the same car Baker ran to a couple of "podium" finishes last season and drove to a win at Charlotte in season 1.

Nick Baker Dover Preview:
Nick Baker, driver and owner of the #9 Dodge Dealers Charger, says that Dover is in the top 5 of his favorite tracks to run at. He's had decent runs at Dover in the past, but one Dover race stands out the most. Baker got his first career start in 2008 at Dover, driving his own #9 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger to a top 20, after being parked for causing a few incidents. One of those incidents involved a one Caleb Paul, Paul was involved in another wreck and trying to miss the wreck, Baker instead plowed into the side of Caleb's car, causing him to flip in turn 3. The next year, Joey Logano tried to re-enact Caleb Paul's wreck and suceeded on the first try. "Dover is a very fun track to drive, I really like the feel of turn 3 and 4, though. I can drive the car in hard in those turns and be fine. Turn 1 is a bit of a hassel, but if you go into it right, you can get off with a bunch of speed. I hope we can have another decent run at Dover and maybe bring NBM its first win of the season!"

Hyland fined by team owner
After working on a setup for Las Vegas for several days, Jordan Hyland was very excited to race. However, prior to the race, he sat down in his mobile home to watch television, ultimately falling asleep and missing his debut. "It sucks," Hyland was quoted as saying. Team owner Nick Baker has fined him $17.35 to punish him for his failure.

Discount Tires to sponsor Jordan Hyland at Dover:
It was announced that Discount Tires will sponsor the #91 NBM entry for Jordan Hyland at Dover. The #51 Discount Tires Charger driven by Jonathan Taylor is also entered, but NBM officials aren't sure if Jonathan will drive. "Jordan will race at Dover to make up for missing the Vegas race. Discount is currently set to sponsor two cars, but we still aren't sure when Dover will happen, but we feel confident that it will happen at some point."

Dollar General to sponsor Nick Baker at Dover:
Dollar General had announced a while back that they would sponsor 2 time Proline Cup Series winner Nick Baker in select races this season, but no scheme or schedule was announced. Now they have announced their first race on the #9 and will release the paint scheme in the near future. "I've had some fun driving in the Dollar General schemes in recent years, even some of my best runs have been in the Dollar General cars. We hope that success continues at Dover, with it being one of my favorite tracks on the schedule!"

Ups and downs at Dover have Baker feeling good about race:
Despite wrecking out of the race to finish 8th, Nick Baker left Dover in a good mood and was pleased with the efforts of the #9 Stanley Tools team. "I honestly felt like our setup wasn't anywhere near competitive in practice and happy hour, I missed qualifying, but I wasn't setting up for that anyways. I started out the race moving to 6th or 7th quickly and that kinda shocked me, I thought by lap 3 or 4 in the run I would start slamming the wall, but I wasn't and I was even under driving it. We were running good before getting tagged by Wetz and Ian, but I guess they hit the apron and I was in the wrong place there. I got extremely loose off of turn 4 one time and slammed into Lambert, we both continued on pretty well. I just misjudged the wreck that I got involved in on when Chin moved up right in front of me where I thought he would stay down, feel pretty bad about it. Hopefully he can still manage a top 5 finish despite the wreck. Time to move on, hopefully I can get more good runs and start competing more, too!"

Nick Baker Infineon preview:
Road course racing is not Baker's strong suit, but he has gotten some decent finishes due to being able to survive all race and finish them. Last season, Infineon actually produced a solid top 10 finish while starting a rebound in the points en route to get him up to 2nd place in points by the chase. "We're never a threat at the road courses, but we've done just enough to be able to get solid finishes at them, and surviving is key to getting better finishes than what you have as a driver. Spinning out and losing a lot more time than you'd like is really bad, especially when you have guys like DK, Shawn, and Chin, who are really good at these tracks and I have nothing for them, but I have some guys I can run with and others I can beat."

Baker finishes 7th at Infineon:
After opting not to qualify at Infineon Raceway, Nick Baker started the race in 14th and only went forward from there. During the race, he lost 2nd gear, but he says that helped him out a lot. "With the way I tend to tear up the tires at these road courses, not having 2nd gear actually helped me out a lot with the tire wear, so that saved my guys an extra pit stop and me some extra valueable time. It all worked out!"

Baker takes the momentum onwards to Michigan, a place where he's been pretty good at.

Baker makes most of night, gets 6th at Michigan:
In the first practice Baker stuggled heavily by being almost a second off the leaders and 3 tenths off the closest person in front of him. He finished practice 19th out of 20 cars and qualifying wasn't any better where he qualified 18th out of 18 cars. The 9 team finally found some speed in happy hour by posting faster laps and was ahead of a few people.

Early on in the race, Baker was involved in an incident where he spun and slammed into the side of Matthew Emerson, who had also spun out. Baker suffered engine damage and was off pace for the rest of the night. On the final run, everyone's loss was his gain, as he took an 11th place car up to 5th before his car became extremely tight and almost hit the wall with two to go. Baker ended the race 6th with a car that was not up to par, but he worked his way up into the best finish he could get.

"I almost threw in the towel after first practice, but my teammate helped me out and I used his setup and we were competitive finally. Got 6th out of a 13th place car, so it worked out for us. Now it's time to focus on Bristol, hopefully we'll have a good setup and car for that one!"

NBM searching for fill-in driver for the 51 car:
NBM announced after the Motorcraft 250 at Michigan that they are currently seeking a driver to compete in the team's #51 team as Jordan Hyland will move to the #91 and Jonathan Taylor is currently on a leave of absense in England. Sponsorship is already set for the team as Discount Tires and Speed Energy are sponsors for the car.

"We are trying to pick up a driver who would be willing to give up the seat once Jon returns, and Jordan did a great job with the 51 tonight with being in the top 5 a lot of the race. We haven't talked to anyone in particular yet, but we'll ask around, that's for sure. We have an option to expand if they like our operation to a 4 car team when Jon returns, but that's not expected. We're hoping to find someone as soon as the next race runs."

Baker talks about status of the team:
Last week, Nick Baker had let it known that he was not happy about anything his crew had put in his car towards speed and handling, and in the end his teammate helped out more than his crew did. "Michigan was actually pretty tough for us, I thought we were going to go in and have a great car and a great run, but immediately, I noticed that we lacked speed. I was honestly on the brink of leaving the race and not competing, as we ended up qualifying almost a full second off the field. I talked to Jordan (Hyland) and he told me some things his guys put in his car and in happy hour, I was happy with the car, we got it way better. We were a top 10 car for the race instead of a last place car. We had our troubles in the race, but we rallied to finish 6th, which was an awesome run for us considering practice. Our team is good, we're having a blast, Jordan's running good and we are actually looking for another driver, so we are trying hard to expand our team. I think right now our teamwork is great, I've given Jordan some help in races and he's given me some help, too."

Keith Sherman takes the wheel of the #9 at Bristol:
Nick Baker was hoping for the race to be held back like the rest of the Solstice Racing Series, but his wish wasn't held up. As the Cup Series was in Bristol, Tennessee, Baker was down in Florida enjoying time off with his family. In a generous way, Keith Sherman subbed for Baker and drove the #9 Charger. "Keith unfortunately didn't have a great race, but he still did me a great favor and I hope I can help him out a lot in the races he runs from now on. Keith's always been one of the good guys in the garage. Everybody likes him and he's always has a good attitude. It sucked to see him have to go home last week at Michigan. Hopefully my help will show him some better speed and help in the future!"
