Week 2 of Power Rankings1. For the 2nd straight week Jordan Robson is #1 in the Solstice Racing Power Rankings. Robson won his 7th race of the season last night in Richmond after he pulled his own version of the 'spin n win' on Thursday night. In what he called was the biggest Proline series win he's ever had. He will have a 21 point lead heading in to the first chase race in Darlington.
2.Jake Poulin will remain in 2nd this week once again. Although he did not have a great finish at Richmond he has been inside the top 3 in points all year long and may prove to be a title contender. Poulin is the reigning Champion of the Proline series and has already proved he can get the job done. Lets see what the Lobster can do next week in Darlington!
3.After another strong run this week in Richmond, Chris Wetz jumps from 8th to 3rd in this weeks Power Rankings. Wetz finished 4th last night and was the 2nd highest finishing chaser aside of Robson. He now sits 4th in points only 21 out of the lead. Many think he could be a major contender for the title.
4.Lambert had another rough night in Richmond, but being seeded 3rd in Chase points has him still ranked inside the top 5 this week in Power Rankings. Brandon qualified on the outside pole and was inside the top 5 the entire night. However on lap 64 the engine blew up on the #53. Better luck next week in Darlington!
5.Adam Codol moves up one spot this week in to 5th. Codol was fast in Richmond and wound up with a solid 5th place finish as the night concluded. Codol already has a Proline Championship in his bag but he wants another one. However he has his work cut out for him as many do to make that possible. But don't count him out!
6.The Crazy Canuck Shawn Taylor moves back a few positions this week in to 6th. Taylor was not much of a contender last night but he promises to make a rebound in Darlington. Like Codol, Taylor sits in 6th position in the chase 24 points out. Can he Urrrrnhardt the chase??
7.Yes the winless streak continues for Georgia's own Nick Baker. However slowly but surely Nick Baker has picked it up. He has 9 top 10 finishes in 10 races this season. However he only has 2 top 5's. If Baker wants to contend for a Championship, he will have to bring hope a few podium finishes in the Chase.
8. Coming of back to back top 6 finishes, Josh Chin has returned to Solstice racing with a vengeance. Chin like many others was absent from Solstice League racing for a while but his decision to come back has proved to be a good one. Chin expects to be in Darlington next week and expects to contend for the win.
9.This is Tyler Ellerys first appearance in the Solstice Power Rankings. After another good finish this week he moves into 8th in the rankings. Ellery finished 2nd last night in Richmond and was one of the few drivers who could keep in contact with Robson through out the night. Who knows, without that last caution he may of been able to contend for the win. He will be a threat in Darlington!
10.Matt Emerson also makes his first appearance in the Power Rankings this week. Emerson was picked as a favorite to win the race last night but never did get up and battle with the leaders. However he was able to salvage a 7th place finish and make his way into the chase yet again this season.
11.After winning Texas, Austin Grams was picked by many to win in Richmond. And he was. Grams led 18 laps on the night and was in the top 3 all race long. However a late race incident took Grams out of contention for the victory. He was forced to retire and would finish 14th on the night. Grams drops from 3rd to 10th this week in the Power Rankings.
Darlington Dark Horse pick:
After making his Proline series season debut, Keith Sherman made his presence felt last night in Richmond. Sherm battled hard all night long and came away with a solid 6th place finish. A great debut after a 5 month absence. Sherman hopes to be in the field in Darlington next week as well.
