| Mosport is more likely. Ron Fellows now owns it and it's Canadian Tire Motorsports park now, they're trying to get a bunch of safety modern-ations there. Future venue. I can't see NNS going to GP3R | |

- Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry and Wenatchee Valley Super Oval (WVSO) Promoter Garrett Evans announced Saturday that PASS and WVSO will co-sanction the PASS Northwest Triple Crown in 2013. The announcement was made Saturday night at WVSO’s annual season ending awards banquet. The PASS Northwest Triple Crown will fill the void for West Coast Super Late Model drivers who have been looking for some time to compete under an organized set of rules and procedures. With this move, the PASS Northwest Series joins PASS North and PASS South in uniting short track racers across the country under one sanctioning body with universally beneficial rules.
“The Northwest has provided us with some of the toughest drivers around and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of racing at Wenatchee next year and for years to come,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry at the WVSO Awards Banquet. “Garrett Evans is a legendary racer in his own right and I’m excited to work with him in promoting PASS Northwest. We think next year will be very successful and look to forward to further expansion for PASS Northwest in 2014.” Garrett Evans is a well known name in short track racing circles with four championships and the all-time wins lead in the old Northwest Tour that sanctioned races until 2006. Evans quickly became a fan of the PASS formula for Super Late Model racing after competing in “The Race” at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2011 and in this year’s revitalized All American 400 at Nashville. He has faith that Tom Mayberry and PASS can resurrect Super Late Model racing in the Northwest much as they did for Southeastern racers with the creation of PASS South in 2006. “I’m happy that we’ve been able to make this happen and so are a lot of the other competitors that I’ve talked to,” said Evans. “It’s been 6 years since we’ve had any sort of sanctioning body out our way and we’ve been in dire need of organization and experience and that’s what PASS offers. Last year at North Wilkesboro Tom [Mayberry} and I started talking about this, but I never dream it could really happen. I’ve been really excited since we started working on the deal and I can’t wait for next year.” Each race of the PASS Northwest Triple Crown will be contested at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval along with a full complement of support divisions. The Apple Blossom 200 will serve as the Inaugural PASS Northwest race and will take the green flag on April 27, 2013. Joining the PASS Northwest Super Late Models in April will be the WESCO Sprints, Pro Four Alliance and Pure Stocks. On June 15, 2013, the PASS Northwest Series will compete in the Columbia River 150. They will be joined by another exciting undercard of racing which will include the WESCO Sprints, Pro Four Alliance, Can-Am Thunder Cars, and Pure Stocks. There will be rotating practice sessions each Friday for the first two rounds of the triple crown. Teams will have additional practices, plus qualifying and main events on Saturday of each race weekend. The top 20 qualifiers will be locked in based on their qualifying times. However, the top 10 qualifiers will redraw for their starting positions inside the top 10. The remainder of the field will be set by last chance race(s) and PASS provisionals. The final round of PASS Northwest Triple Crown will award a substantial bonus purse to any driver who commits and attempts to qualify for all three races. The Wenatchee Valley 300 will be the marquee event of the PASS Northwest Triple Crown and will take place on August 9-10, 2013. Qualifying and heat races for the PASS Northwest Super Late Models will go green on Friday, August 9th along with feature racing for Pure Stocks, Legends, and Bump To Pass. On Saturday, August 10th, fans can see the PASS Northwest Last Chance Race, followed by features for the Pro Four Alliance, Legends, WESCO Sprints, and the Wenatchee Valley 300. Advance discount ticket packages will be available at Leonard Evans Cars or by calling 509-663-8551. The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as the nation’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway, and the Autobus Le Quebecois Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudiere. - Six events are programmed for the first season of the Asian Le Mans Series in 2013. They are spread all over the Asian continent with three races in China at the start of the year followed by an event in South Korea, another in Japan and the final round in Indonesia.
All the events will have the same format: free practice sessions on Friday with qualifying on Saturday and a 3-hour race on Sunday, with option to increase race distance in future years.
Full Asian Le Mans Series Calendar is as follows:
28th April 2013, Zhuhaï (China) 26th May 2013, Shanghaï (China) 7th July 2013, Ordos (China) 4th August 2013, Inje (South Korea) 22nd September, Fuji Speedway (Japan) 8th December Sentul (Indonesia)
Two of the categories of cars eligible for the Le Mans 24 Hours (LM P2 and LM GTE) are completed by another GT category (GTC) and one extra prototype category LM PC (Le Mans Prototype Challenge). The GTC category will be made up with car homologated to FIA GT3 and Super GT300 specification with a balance of performance provided by the ACO.
In order to help the maximum number of Asian entrants to learn the ropes of endurance racing with teams will consist of two or three drivers (open choice but there must be an amateur and a professional). Each line-up in each category must have at least one driver who is a native of the continent. The aim is to help bring on new talent, and also to help a few drivers who have problems finding seats.
Three invitations for the 2014 Le Mans 24 hours will be awarded to the 2013 winners of the LM P2, LM GTE and GTC categories (the GTC winners will have to enter a GTE Am car for Le Mans). The 2013 winning LM PC team will be given an invitation to take part in the 2014 test day for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
To date interest from teams, manufactures and partners have exceeded expectation and organizers expect the grid to be strong across all categories in 2013. Official team registration will commence on 28th October 2012 and run through 20th March 2013.
Organizers of the Asian Le Mans Series, are also in the process of establishing a comprehensive marketing and media program around the Series and recently announced that is has already secured two prestigious TV broadcast partners to show its races in 2013, those being, ESPN STAR Sports and Eurosport Asia-Pacific.
The Automobile Club de l'Ouest has entrusted the organization of this new Series to promoters S2M Group, established in China since 1999 and already an ACO partner for the ILMC races staged at Zhuhai in 2010 and 2011, which has been. TS Motorsport, established in Shanghai since 2005, will look after the logistics and race operating activities of the races. The ACO and its team of scrutineers and officials will be present to help this new championship get off the ground in 2013.

| FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU - Indianapolis Star wrote:
- Randy Bernard is officially out as CEO of the IndyCar Series, The Star has learned.
That outcome came as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corp.’s board of directors voted on his employment status in a special meeting this evening.
Bernard will remain with the series in an advisory role for an undisclosed period of time. Jeff Belskus, the CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will take Bernard’s place in an interim basis.
Bernard recently completed his third season as the leader of the series. He signed a five-year contract in February 2010, arriving to significant fanfare as the permanent replacement to Tony George.
Bernard helped bring a new equipment package and new venues to the series, but he was criticized for his handling of the Dan Wheldon tragedy and for a financial deficit increased by the lucrative China race not being held in August -- IndyCar got nothing from the $8.75 million agreement -- and the signing of several race events to lower sanctioning fees.
Television ratings also reached a record low this season, although Bernard inherited the split contract -- five races on ABC, the rest on NBC Sports Network -- from the George administration.
Voting of the board was not disclosed, but Bernard had at least one member of the 11-member group in his camp -- George’s sister, Josie, who helped attract Bernard from the Professional Bull Riders group he organized and led.
Bernard could not be reached for comment. He is believed to be in Las Vegas attending PBR’s World Finals.
Tony George didn’t have a vote in Bernard’s removal because he is not a member of the IMS board. He resigned as a member of the Hulman & Co. board -- the parent company of the family owned organization -- following his removal as IMS CEO in 2009.
How Bernard’s ousting impacts George remains to be seen. George wants to buy IndyCar from the family, but board members have stressed it’s not for sale. Bernard’s removal and George’s interest in purchasing the series are considered separate subjects.
Bernard’s era will be remembered for the way he embraced the fans, which included making his e-mail address known and his regular media briefings, but team owners often questioned his decisions.
Bernard wanted -- and unveiled to incredible fanfare in July 2010 -- bodywork kits that would differentiate the cars. IndyCar’s fan based loved the idea, but team owners objected to it on the basis of cost. The latter won and new cars that debuted in March were all made by Dallara with the same aerodynamic pieces.
However, there was an internal fight this summer over how much teams had to pay for those exclusive Dallara parts. Bernard eventually got Dallara to agree to a reduction for the rest of 2012 and all of next season.
The original contract with Dallara included a new Dallara facility in Speedway, but even that went criticized because several of IndyCar’s team owners wanted Chip Ganassi’s unique DeltaWing car to be chosen.
Bernard seemed to have challenges at every turn since this year’s Indianapolis 500. His Twitter post in June about team owners trying to get him fired sparked considerable debate within the sport and questioned his motive as well as the sport’s direction.
Even his plan to introduce doubleheaders came with resistance. Team owners fear the three events on next year’s schedule with dual races on the same weekend -- in Detroit, Toronto and Houston -- will prove too costly.
One of the most controversial items has yet to be resolved. Bernard was pursuing a tire supplier contract with a manufacturer other than Firestone, and that had nearly everyone in the paddock concerned given Firestone’s nearly impeccable safety record. Firestone also has arguably been IndyCar’s best partners since George started the Indy Racing League in 1996. Firestone’s contract expires at the end of the 2014 season.
Bernard earned praise for bringing Chevrolet and Lotus to IndyCar, although it can be argued that Chevrolet’s return was as much about returning to IMS. As for Lotus, that was a disaster almost from the moment the manufacturer was announced to compete.
The first Lotus engine wasn’t tested until January, putting it at a several-month disadvantage to Chevrolet and Honda. Three Lotus teams negotiated contract exits before the 500, leaving only the smallest team in the series -- HVM Racing -- to utilize the underpowered engines that had inferior corporate support.
In July, Bernard’s most significant hire, chief operating officer Marc Koretzky, resigned under pressure. Details of his hastily arranged departure were not given.
Bernard gets credit for getting Pocono (Pa.) Raceway to sign on for 2013, and for bringing back the Triple Crown of oval races that includes IMS and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
Bernard also put renewed emphasis on the Mazda Road to Indy program led by George’s son, Tony Jr. That resulted in Bryan Clauson becoming the first USAC champion to compete in the 500 since Tony Stewart in 1996.

| A interesting read by Nate Ryan. I know some people say it would be death of IndyCar if NASCAR bought it. But honestly, what else can you do with the way it is going now. I think they would do good at running a IndyCar type series. I think it would be alot more stable if they put the right people in it. Ryan: NASCAR and IndyCar might find relevance together | |

| BigPond is pulling out of V8's - SpeedCafe.com wrote:
- Bigpond will pull the plug on its sponsorship and online media rights deals with V8 Supercars at the end of the 2012 season, the internet service provider has confirmed.
In addition to its platform sponsorship and online content deals with the series, the BigPond brand and that of its parent Telstra have acted as the naming rights backer of several V8 Supercars events over the last decade, including the BigPond 400 (Barbagallo) and Sydney Telstra 500 (Homebush).
The news of Bigpond’s withdrawal follows a similar mid-year confirmation from sister brand Tradingpost that it will end its association with the sport before next season.
Speaking in a statement, the executive director of Telstra Media, J-B Rousselot, said that it was time to move on.
“Over the past decade, we have seen amazing developments in both the sport and digital media technology and that has enabled us to bring fans closer to the racing,” Rousselot said.
“The time is now right for us to move on.”

| Hearing rumors about the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown moving from Richmond to Langley possibly for 2013. Would be good i think and it would get more fans there i think compared to Richmond. Plus more teams can afford to run a track like Langley compared to Richmond. Would also most likely cut live TV which would help on the fan count(should of done the race on PPV anyway like the Prelude as far as the LM race and had a preview of it on SPEED with the K&N race etc.) | |
