Looking like SHR will have Harvick in 2014 as a 4 car team or in the current #39 ride if Newman does something else. I wonder if Budweiser will follow?

Seabass is back at Dragon for 2013 Very Happy

IndyCar.com wrote:
Sebastien Bourdais will return to Dragon Racing in 2013 after the team announced it has renewed the contract of the four-time Champ Car World Series champion on Nov. 9.

The Frenchman will return to the team owned by Jay Penske after showing the pairing showed potential for success after the team changed to Chevrolet engines days before the Indianapolis 500.

“It’s a privilege to have Seb once again piloting the Number 7 Dragon Racing entry,” Penske said. “2012 was a challenge for us on so many levels, but despite that, towards the end of last season we demonstrated that with the right equipment and strategy, Dragon Racing is a force to be reckoned with. I am truly excited about what can be achieved this coming season and with Seb at the wheel – the best is yet to come."

Bourdais, who scored the only top-10 finish for a Lotus-powered car in 2012, qualifed in the top-10 five times in six road races following Indianapolis. He scored a season-best finish of fourth at Mid-Ohio.

“It is with great pleasure and excitement that I will return for a second season at the wheel of the Dragon Racing/McAfee/Chevy entry,” he said. “To kick things off that early is a great boost for 2013 after all the obstacles we had to go through in 2012. With the stability of the staff, the sponsors and the experience we amassed this year, I am very confident we can achieve great results next season.”

Dragon Racing expects to make several personnel and sponsorship announcements in the next few months as it prepares for the first race of the 2013 season.

Probably minimum age will be set to 16. Might be a way to get Chase Elliott in the trucks now that Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson are both there lol

Jeff Gordon was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) -- altercation with another competitor on the race track during the race -- and has been fined $100,000, docked 25 championship driver points and put on probation until Dec. 31. Rick Hendrick, owner of the No. 24 car, also has also been penalized with the loss of 25 championship owner points. Alan Gustafson, crew chief of the No. 24 car, was found to be in violation of Section 9-4A (at all events, crew chief assumes responsibility of his driver, car owner and team members) and has been placed on probation until Dec. 31.

Brian Pattie, crew chief of the No. 15 car, violated Sections 12-1 and 9-4A and has been fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31.

Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 car, has been fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for violating Sections 12-1 and 20-6.7A (cars and drivers will not be permitted to carry onboard computers, automated electronic recording devices, electronically actuated devices, power distribution modules, power conditioners, micro-processors, recording devices, electronic digital memory chips, traction control devices, digital readout gauges and the like, even if inoperable or incomplete). Keselowski had a cell phone in his race car.

Okay then NASCAR. Ok at Daytona? LOLNOPE. Just freaking stupid! One thing NASCAR needs to do. Post the full rulebook(and UP TO DATE!) on their website for all series!

Edit #1: Just forgot many current traction control devices are operated by bluetooth/cellular phone anymore..... I understand NASCAR's decision from that point. I don't think Keselowski is doing that at all though!

Edit #2:
ESPN/Steve O'Donnell of NASCAR on 10/29/2012 wrote:
How important was Brad Keselowski’s tweeting during the crash delay of the Daytona 500 in formulating NASCAR’s overall social media strategy and why didn’t NASCAR punish him for it?

Edit #3: NASCAR made rule 20-6.7A after Richmond that smartphones would be not allowed after that it could be used to control the ECU as well as be a device to activate a traction control device as said in Edit #1 if the phone is bluetooth type phone.

"I think a lot of it was seeing the reaction from race fans. He’s a champion of social media and one of the guys the fans have come to like and we like what he’s doing in that space. Our ultimate goal is to bring people into the drivers’ seat during the event as possible -- show them what’s going on and give them access. There are always challenges that may creep in as to what does or does not create a competitive advantage for one team. We don’t want to upset that balance, but the more information we can bring to the race fans that we can, we will. We’ve got to do it in a smart way."

Nationwide going to Mid-Ohio: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is expected to play host to a NASCAR Nationwide Series race for the first time next August. The formal announcement will come at a press conference [Tuesday] morning at the Nationwide Insurance headquarters in downtown Columbus. A spokesman for Mid-Ohio had no comment ... when asked about the race. It appears the 2.25-mile road course of Mid-Ohio was the choice of NASCAR to replace the Nationwide Series road race previously held in Montreal. Nationwide is considered the No.2 series behind Sprint Cup in the NASCAR hierarchy. But several Sprint Cup stars race in the Nationwide Series from time to time, and there is a good chance that could be the case for the Mid-Ohio race. Based on when the Montreal race was run this year, it is expected to be held the same weekend as the Sprint Cup race at Michigan. Drivers will be able to make what would be a shortish commute by helicopter. As for Mid-Ohio, it also will be hosting its annual IndyCar race the first weekend of August, meaning it could stage two major events within two weeks of each other.(Columbus Dispatch)(11-12-2012)

ESPNF1.com wrote:
Formula One's management is considering creating an American version of GP2 or GP3 in order to drive popularity of the sport in the United States which this weekend hosts its first Grand Prix for five years.

Company documents show that it has the working title of the 'Americas Series' and, if given the green light, will feature races in the United States, Canada and Brazil. The aim is to stimulate the development of grass roots motorsports in these countries and generate publicity for F1 so that it eventually attracts more local drivers.

This year only three of the 20 F1 races are in the Americas. In addition to this weekend's race, which takes place in Texas, there are well-established Grands Prix in Canada and Brazil. However, F1 has struggled to gain popularity in the United States. There are no American drivers currently competing in the sport and the last was Scott Speed who raced briefly for Toro Rosso in 2006 and 2007 without scoring a point.

According to the company documents, F1's management believes that it will eventually be able to develop its business in North and South America to a level comparable with that in its traditional European base.

A regional variant of GP2 has been attempted before with little success. A GP2 Asia winter series was launched in 2008 but its last season was in 2011 when it only held four races with two of them taking place at Imola in Italy. Although teams were encouraged to run local drivers, many still chose Europeans or South Americans instead despite restrictions on the number of points they could score.

Since GP2 launched in 2005 it has been a major success story in producing F1 talent, with former champions including Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean. The series was acquired by F1's parent company, the F1 Group, in 2007 and three years later it launched GP3 to provide upcoming drivers with another clear step on the ladder to F1.

GP2 and GP3 generated $44.8m in revenues last year. This represents around 2.9% of the F1 Group's total revenue and it was made up from the sale of cars and parts to the participating teams, plus promotion and advertising fees and maintenance services.

It isn't only the F1 Group that would benefit from an expansion of GP2 or GP3. Publicity generated by an American junior series could be very useful to the organisers of the proposed Grand Prix in New Jersey, who recently shelved plans to host a race in 2013 amid budget concerns. It would also be beneficial to the F1 teams because as the sport's profile grows in the US it is likely to increase interest in sponsorship from American companies. However, the teams would not receive any additional revenues directly from the series itself as turnover from GP2 and GP3 is excluded from the F1 prize money fund.

Although there have been a number of plans to improve the profile of F1 in the US in recent years, the race in Texas is so far the only one to come to fruition. Despite being granted an entry slot for 2010, new team USF1 collapsed under the weight of financial troubles before it even made it to the grid. Earlier this year Red Bull was rumoured to be looking at creating a 'Stars and Stripes' F1 team piloted by American drivers, but so far nothing has materialised.

Nationwide schedule sucks! Indianapolis and the one of the dates at Chicagoland and Kentucky can GTFO! Mid-Ohio will be interesting. Sucks that they couldn't get a deal done for the Canadian fans but most likely will have Mosport on the Truck schedule though.

The LMP2 car was only about half a second faster than the DP on the crappy Continental Tires. On its normal tires it would probably be 5-7 seconds faster.

Andretti Autosport wrote:
When IZOD IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti arrives in St. Petersburg, Fla. this coming March, he will return to the streets where, in 2005, he won his first Firestone Indy Lights race. Now an IZOD IndyCar Series veteran, Andretti will enter the 2013 season with a familiar team behind him and the same dedication to winning he has always carried; however, he will be carrying something new with him. The number 25.

After seven seasons of running No. 26, a number which took the late Dan Wheldon to an Indianapolis 500 victory, Andretti is stepping down a digit to feature 25 on the 2013 RC Cola livery of his DW12.

“The No. 26 will always be a part of me and my history in racing,” said Andretti, “but I think it’s grown unlucky for me – I keep hearing that from people too! I like the meaning of 25 versus 26. To me 26 is a character-builder through heartache and trials; looking ahead to the No. 25 means success and leadership. It’s like my chance to be reborn as a veteran driver.”

Andretti will unveil the No. 25 Chevy on Dec. 5 at a closed media event (media advisory to follow) at the team’s Indianapolis race shop. The 2013 liveries of teammates James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay will also be unveiled at this time. A select number of fans will have the opportunity to attend the event and should like the Andretti Autosport Facebook page for upcoming information on how to register.

Not gonna say much about it until I actually see the schemes with the sponsor on the roof, if it's done right it'll look good. If not, I'm sure it will be tweaked.
