Scott Riggs will drive the #5 truck at Michigan instead of Harraka. I would have prefered Colin Braun, but still nice. Also, Jennifer Jo Cobb will be making her 50th start in the Campinr World Truck Series. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she is also the first woman to hit 50 starts in Nascar? Unless I'm missing someone.

THOUSAND OAKS, California — Principals for RacingWest and RPMTV have agreed to collaborate on new 'Near Live" features on RacingWest.com for select events that will provide race fans, track operators, sponsors, and partners a more integrated event coverage experience. The team will roll-out a live video feed that will be part of the 'Near Live' event coverage of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour brought to you by Performance Electrical at Stockton (CA) Speedway Saturday, August 18! The joint effort between RacingWest and RPMTV creates a new dimension for both companies providing race coverage to a receptive audience in the Western United States. RacingWest continues to be the go-to source for all racing news and information and is the originator of the 'Near Live' experience. Through this new medium, RacingWest will continue to expand their footprint and influence in the industry by providing a video element to their race coverage bringing greater value for teams, fans, sponsors, and race facilities. The focus behind offering video is more than simply presenting a video feed of an event. "This is about giving a value-added interaction to race teams, sponsors, tracks and fans," said Janet Peery, Owner of Racing West, “We are excited to offer this never before seen feature to the short-track racing fans. Our hope is the advanced Near Live will help grow fan bases, offer a new market for new sponsors and better exposure to existing sponsors, and where better to debut this than in the SRL Southwest Tour and the infamous Stockton ’99 [Speedway]? "My team has been in development for months," stated Ron Nava, President of RPMTV. "This system utilizes new technologies and is not dependent on an internet connection provided by the track. This is next generation technology that will allow us to offer a live video stream from virtually anywhere and we are thrilled to offer this program at the SRL race at Stockton later this month." RPMTV is known for delivering broadcast quality race coverage via the internet for the past several years and this new platform will rival anything in the market today. The program will present an experience not unlike broadcast television, but tailored to an Internet audience focused on integrated social media feeds, event coverage, advertiser branding, and fan interaction. A fan’s best bet is to come out to the race. Some things at a track can’t be experienced on a Near Live feed, such as the Fireworks Spectacular, the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort Fan Giveaways, the legend Johnny Brazil and the Budweiser Clydesdales. Whether you are already at the track or stuck at home please join RacingWest and RPMTV on August 18 for the new Near Live experience.

She has finished 35 of her first 49. In her rookie season, she finished 21 of 25. Then it went downhill when she overextended to run Nationwide and her equipment got worse and worse. 12 races and 4 DNF's last year, 8 races 3 DNF's this year. 7 DNQ's in the past 2 years. If she had just stuck to the trucks and kept those owners points...sigh.

Apparently Paul Page is being replaced by Marty Reid as the lead commentator in NHRA at the end of the season. Maybe Paul will head over to IndyCar when Bob Jenkins is gone at the end of the year.

Hmmmmm...... New magazine focusing on IndyCar called KARBON has released their first issue! Main editor of the magazine is Bronte Tagliani with Derek Daly, Marshall Pruett and Jacki Warnock as contributors. You can download the first issue here! Seems decent for its first issue.

Marty Reid is the reason I started watching NHRA weekly. I was so pissed when they replaced him. He is excellent as an NHRA commentator. I like Paul though!

SportingNews.com/Bob Pockrass wrote:
NASCAR fined Kyle Busch crew chief Dave Rogers $25,000 for improperly attached weight that inspectors found on the No. 18 car during practice Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
The penalty explains an incident during the final practice Saturday when David Reutimann was driving the car for Busch because Busch was on his way to the Nationwide Series race in Montreal. Reutimann heard a bang and thought he ran over something, punching a hole in the right front fender.
With NASCAR announcing the penalty, it appears that a piece of tungsten came off the No. 18 car itself.
NASCAR did not dock points from the team for the infraction, so Busch remains 14th in the Sprint Cup standings.
Rogers and car chief Wesley Sherrill were placed on probation through Oct. 3.
Probation means that if the Joe Gibbs Racing team commits similar violations between now and Oct. 3, the penalties for those future infractions could be more severe
